About the work
Tara's work emerges from a profound sense of social concern, driven by care and empathy for those who have been displaced. As an Iranian artist who relocated to the Netherlands, she channels her practice to engage with the experiences of asylum seekers, traveling to camps across diverse locations to listen attentively, absorb, and bear witness. Through her art, she transforms the stories of these individuals into interactive visual installations, allowing their journeys to be heard.
Each paper boat in the exhibition represents an individual who died. Visitors are invited to create their own paper boats and place them on the sea, participating in an act of remembrance. Through this collective gesture, the exhibition becomes a sanctuary for mourning, reflection, and honoring the stories of those lost.
Her graduation project reflects the passage they endurea journey shaped by uncertainty and loss. The installation serves as a grief monument, inviting viewers to bear witness to this collective tragedy.
Through the creation of creative workshops in her practice, art becomes a bridge for reclaiming narratives and amplifying the voices of those often unheard.
Huntsman Group Show
2021 - Vard Gallery , Tehran, Iran
This exhibition emerged from a gathering of artists who shared conversations, dreams, and reflections about The Big Hunter of the Earth. Through dialogue and collective exploration, each participant discovered their own interpretation of this figure a personal symbol, a question, or a challenge and translated it into unique artistic expression.
The resulting works reflect a diversity of voices and approaches, yet are united by a common inquiry into human interaction with the world: our desires, fears, and responsibilities. Together, the exhibition becomes a space for imagination, reflection, and shared creativity, inviting the audience to encounter the many “hunters” we carry within ourselves and in our society.
Solo Exhibition - Dead Of color
2018 - Kave Art Gallery in Tehran, Iran
Dead of Color is a solo exhibition that brings to life the dreams, nightmares, and untold stories I carry within myself. Through large-scale illustrations on canvas, I translate my thoughts, memories, and personal traumas into visual form.
The title reflects a deliberate contradiction: while the paintings are vibrant and colorful, the “dead of color” hints at the hidden pain beneath the surface. The audience may see beauty and color at first glance, but each work carries the weight of personal struggle, loss, and resilience a silent dialogue between appearance and experience.
Dead of Color draws inspiration from the Iranian poet Sohrab Sepehri, whose words in In This Defeat of Color speak of fragile melodies and echoes within silence:
"In this defeat of color,
Has unraveled the thread of every melody.
Only the fearless twittering of a small bird
Adorns the ear of simple silence
With the earrings of echoes."
